ATELIER100 LAUNCHES DINNER PARTY BY LONDON STUDIO MITRE & MONDAYS

Creative incubator programme Atelier100 has partnered with long-term collaborator, creative studio Mitre & Mondays, to launch Dinner Party, a limited edition stackable ceramic dish. The piece was conceived to satisfy a gap for when a tray is not enough, and a dish is not quite right.

Dinner Party is characterised by a robust shape made from earthenware clay (with dimensions that match those of a breeze block), double-dipped yellow finish and wide handles, and has been designed for oven to table dining.

“The dish was conceived in our Shoreditch studio, and part of it was inspired by a nearby curbstone which has a very satisfying opening into an under passage below. This opening is reflected in the handle cut-out on the sides of Dinner Party, and is emblematic of how we dream up many of our ideas.”

As a studio, Mitre & Mondays has a history of working with metal and timber, and Dinner Party marks a significant departure from their past work. Their design ethos revolves around connecting people to the material world and redefining the functionality of everyday projects. Previous objects include a floor light that featured a reclaimed London cobblestone created for Atelier100’s pilot scheme for its debut 2022 launch, the Staple Chair with a hand-painted frame, designed to encourage people to upcycle furniture in new colours, and the Bakery Stool that celebrates the rustic nature of baking by welding together two elements - reclaimed oak legs and a patinated stainless steel seat.

Mitre & Mondays was part of Atelier100’s first cohort in 2022, and has since returned to collaborate with the brand for the spatial design of the recent Dalston pop-up space as well as updates to the upcoming Winter Holiday Shop in Covent Garden. Dinner Party is supported and endorsed by Atelier100 and comes in response to an introduction by one of Atelier 100’s parent brands H&M, to a Porto-based ceramics factory that supplies for H&M Home. The launch is exemplary of the Atelier100 programme’s ethos to champion creatives and studios, connecting them with suppliers and helping to build on their industry networks.

Dinner Party, £85: Available from 30th November at atelier100.com and in the Atelier100 Winter Holiday Shop / Atelier100 Livat Hammersmith store.

About Atelier100

A think tank and a store all rolled into one, Atelier100 aims to discover and support emerging, London-based creatives by helping them bring their products to life, and inspiring local communities to shop close to home. Now in its second year, it is driven by an exciting collective of creatives, makers and design industry experts. Atelier100 was established to bring the focus back towards the merits of local design and local production, giving agency to ideas that might otherwise have remained in limbo.

Established by H&M and Ingka Group (IKEA Retail), Atelier100 combines masterclasses in business know-how, 1-2-1 mentoring sessions and the opportunity for creatives with original product ideas to bring their concepts to life. Every product for sale has been designed in and around London, and is available to buy at our Hammersmith store.
